A Special Relationship

A Special Relationship

Explore Gaia’s Special Relationship with Ysgol y Gogarth

Ysgol y Gogarth is a day and residential Special School currently catering for approximately 210 pupils between the ages of 3 and 19.

The school overlooks the beautiful bay of Llandudno and is within four miles of the A55 expressway.

The pupils attending the school are either fully statemented or in the process of being statemented and have a wide spectrum of additional learning needs.

Alongside the school provision, Llys Gogarth is a purpose built residential facility. It offers an integrated residential education and developmental care package to children and young people aged between 7 and 19 years of age. Llys Gogarth also offers a respite service to assist families in their capacity to sustain themselves.

Not only is Gaia the ICT managed service provider for the school but we like to think that we have a special developmental relationship with the school and a commitment to innovating through partnership.

Here headteacher Jonathan Morgan talks about the working relationship with Gaia:

School News Report

One of the strong on-going connections with  Ysgol y Gogarth has been support from the Gaia Studio  Team for school projects.  In this case Gaia deployed support from its video making specialists to help the students make their  ‘ School News Report’.

Developing Apps

The school makes use of Makaton signing to help  with communication. One of our collaborative projects  has been to create  an app featuring a digital character who would help the students develop their signing skills. The students designed the  monkey character, which was brought to life by the  creative artists in the Gaia studio.  The monkey can also appear on digital signage to convey information to  the students.

Happy Christmas

As well as providing studio project support Gaia has provided training support to the school as they moved into their new building on the Llandudno sea front. Gaia is able to source special education trainers to work with both our mainstream and special school clients. Working together we can develop tailored solutions that meet the needs of students and teachers alike.
