When Bodnant Community School started planning their IPC Mission to Mars topic they had no idea that it would end up like this!
Building on previous years’ successful projects, class teachers Tristan Hughes and Caroline Van Niekerk devised a topic which saw pupils planning every detail of a proposed fact-finding trip to Mars. Research was carried out into the habitat, environment, travel requirements and practicalities, including calculations around how much water to take. Pupils worked in teams, communicating via Skype with Paris Wharton from the Gaia Studio Team based at Gaia HQ in Bangor, to plan, script and storyboard a tourist guide to Mars. Video production expert Paris and sound engineer Carl from Gaia Studio Services then visited the school to film pupils in front of a green screen. The project was finished off with pupils directing the studio team in the editing and post production of the films which can be seen below.
