In 2018, Reginald Mitchell Primary School in Stoke on Trent embarked on their primary computing adventure with Gaia Technologies as their guide. Using the Gaia Primary Computing Framework together with face to face and remote support from a Gaia Education Technologist they transformed not only their computing curriculum but their wider use of technology across the school.
The school felt that the use of technology, and the computing curriculum, needed an overhaul. “As a school we identified that the children weren’t getting the best computing curriculum that we could offer them.” reflects Computing Leader Sarah Else. “We’d got an ICT suite that wasn’t being used, we’d got staff that felt that their skills needed updating and we were crying out for some form of direction.”
This video tells the story of their journey.
